Twenty Denbighshire projects awarded funding from Shared Prosperity Fund
Denbighshire County Council is delighted to announce that twenty Denbighshire projects have successfully been awarded grants from the county’s allocation of Shared Prosperity Funding (SPF).
SPF is part of the UK Government’s Levelling up agenda, providing funding for local investment across the UK until March 2025. £25.6 million worth of funds have been made available for projects across Denbighshire.
On the 25th of April, the Cabinet shortlisted 29 projects to proceed to the final stage of the application process for a share of the funding, a mix of Denbighshire only and regional projects.
The successful projects have been selected based on their aspirations to deliver on a number of key interventions that have been categorised into 8 themes. The themes are:
- Town Centre Improvements & Tourism
- Business Support Across the County
- Healthier, Happier, Caring: Community Capacity Building
- Culture & Welsh Language: Culture, Sports & Creativity
- Better Connected: Digital Inclusion
- Fairer, Safe & More Equal: Community Safety
- Greener: Community Infrastructure
- Learning & Growing: People & Skills
These themes align with the key objectives outlined in the Council’s Corporate Plan 2022 to 2027 that will help secure the well-being of residents now and in the future.
The twenty Denbighshire only projects have now been issued with letters confirming that their applications for funding have been successful.
The remaining nine projects that made the shortlist are regional or sub-regional projects and will proceed to the next stage of the application process when all North Wales local authorities have finalised their investment decisions.
Information about the twenty projects approved so far can be found by theme at www.denbighshire.gov.uk/UKSPF-projects
Information about any regional projects that gain approval will also be added to this section of the Council’s website.
Cllr Jason McLellan, Council Leader and Lead Member for Economic Growth & Tackling Deprivation said: “We are delighted to be able to award grants from Denbighshire’s allocation of Shared Prosperity Funding to these exciting Denbighshire-based projects, and look forward to moving ahead with the applications for the remaining 9 regional projects soon.
“The Council’s 5-year Corporate Plan to achieve ‘the Denbighshire We Want’ is very much reflected through the aspirations of these projects which intend to deliver for the good of local residents and communities across the county for years to come.”
