Stay on Wales’ Longest Pier and help protect this treasured landmark – Historic Bangor Pier House opens as holiday let, with proceeds to charity
A historic pier house offering some of the best views in North Wales is set to help protect one of Bangor’s most treasured landmarks.
The remarkable Pier Master’s House beside Bangor’s Garth Pier has undergone a complete refurbishment and is now available to book with Pass the Keys, with every stay helping to safeguard the future of the iconic pier.
Bangor Pier is one of only 3 Grade II* listed piers in the UK and is a Victorian gem, holding great architectural and historical significance. Standing proudly since 1896, it is the longest pier in Wales and one of the longest across England and Wales, holding a special place in the hearts of the local community.
The property, which has been vacant since 2022, has been transformed into a stunning seafront holiday stay and is part of an initiative by the Friends of Bangor’s Garth Pier (FBGP), with profits generated to be reinvested directly into the upkeep of the pier.
The three-bedroom property, which sleeps up to six people, has been completely refurbished throughout, blending its historic character with modern comforts. Positioned at the entrance to the iconic Victorian structure, it enjoys panoramic views across the Menai Strait towards Anglesey and the mountains of Eryri (Snowdonia), making it one of the most unique stays in the region.
Inside, the house offers bright, stylish interiors designed for relaxation, with spacious living areas, a fully equipped open-plan kitchen and three comfortable bedrooms. Large French doors open onto a stunning outdoor space where guests can fully enjoy the sea air and scenery.
Just a short stroll from the property, you’ll find the beautiful Victorian pier lined with quaint kiosks and local businesses. Halfway along, you can pause at Whistlestop on the Pier, a much-loved café serving fresh, homemade food and warm drinks, perfect for enjoying while taking in the breathtaking coastal views. At the end of the pier, the pavilion tea rooms offer a relaxed spot for light bites and refreshments, while nearby kiosks include a traditional sweet shop and gift stalls selling locally made crafts and Welsh produce.
Bangor itself provides the perfect base for discovering the beauty, food and coastal charm of North Wales.
The recent refurbishment was completed in just six weeks, thanks to the efforts of volunteers and strong support from local businesses. The project also forms part of a broader vision to revitalise the waterfront area surrounding the pier, making it an even more attractive destination for both residents and visitors.
The property is available to book through Pass the Keys, a leading UK holiday-let management franchise, overseeing more than 1,500 properties across 60 locations in the UK and Southern Spain, combining professional management with the local insight of on-the-ground partners.
Gareth Williams is the Franchise Owner of Pass the Keys Anglesey, Conwy & Eryri and has lived in North Wales all his life, with roots in the Caernarfon area. Having spent many holidays as a child exploring Anglesey and the surrounding areas, he feels very passionate about this special area.
