Residents across parts of Bangor, Conwy and Ynys Môn have experienced significant disruption to their water supplies, prompting a local Senedd Member to demand urgent answers from Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water.

Janet Finch-Saunders MS says she has been contacted by numerous constituents after some households reportedly went without running water for as long as five days, leaving families frustrated and seeking greater support from the utility company.

The Senedd Member has written to Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water requesting an immediate update on the cause of the disruption, what steps are being taken to restore normal supplies and what assistance is available for affected residents.

She has also raised concerns over the communication provided during the incident, with some residents claiming they were left without clear information while waiting for their water supply to return.

Janet Finch-Saunders, Senedd Member for Bangor Conwy Môn, said:

“Access to a reliable water is essential, and I understand the frustration and concern felt by residents who have experienced disruption, particularly those who have been without water for a number of days.

Residents have contacted me to express concerns about the support and communication they have received during this period. More needs to be done to ensure people affected by these issues receive timely information and appropriate assistance.

I have raised these concerns with Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water and will continue to seek updates on the situation to ensure residents’ concerns are heard and that lessons are learned for the future.”

The disruption has highlighted the importance of reliable infrastructure across North Wales, particularly during the busy summer period when demand for water supplies can be higher and any prolonged outage has the potential to affect vulnerable residents, businesses and local communities.

Residents affected by water supply interruptions are encouraged to monitor official updates from Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water and report any ongoing issues directly to the company.

The utility provider has yet to publicly respond to the concerns raised by the Senedd Member, but pressure is mounting for a detailed explanation of what caused the disruption and how similar incidents can be prevented in future.

The incident is likely to remain under close scrutiny as residents seek reassurance that reliable water supplies and improved communication will be prioritised should further problems arise.
