Applications for Welsh Government Business Rate Grant Scheme close at the end of June

Businesses are being urged to apply for the Welsh Government’s Business Rate Grant Scheme before it closes.

More than 2,000 businesses have applied for the support, which is administered by Denbighshire County Council, and so far £24.2 million has been paid out in the county.

In April the Welsh Government announced support for businesses during the coronavirus pandemic, which Denbighshire and other local authorities across Wales are administering.

The Welsh Government has stated the Business Rates Grant Scheme is continuing to take applications up until June 30. After this date any application received will not be eligible for this grant.

Cllr Hugh Evans OBE, Leader of Denbighshire County Council and Lead Member for the Economy, said: “There has been a good response from businesses in the county to apply for this support. With the Welsh Government closing applications at the end of June, businesses need to apply for this grant as there is a clear deadline.

“We are continuing to work with ministers to ensure they are aware of the concerns of businesses in Denbighshire and by supporting our businesses now we can help reduce the impact of coronavirus on our economy and ensure we are protecting jobs in our community.”

The Council is expecting the total amount of support to be provided to businesses in the county to exceed £30million.
