A public consultation is being undertaken to get people’s views on new signage being installed in Llangollen as part of a Denbighshire County Council project to improve the 4 Great Highways.

During the first round of the UK Government’s Levelling Up Fund (LUF) Denbighshire County Council was successful in its joint application with Wrexham County Borough Council for the Clwyd South Constituency, which was supported by Simon Baynes MP. Denbighshire secured £3.8 million to invest in the communities of Llangollen, Llantysilio, Corwen and surrounding areas.

The 4 Great Highways project is funded by LUF and aims to enhance the landscape and upgrade accessibility, interpretation, and signage in Llangollen to help improve the resident and visitor experience and encourage people to spend more time in the town. The tendering process is currently underway to find a contractor to complete the works associated with this project, the deadline for which has been extended to the 13th of September.

The Council is now seeking feedback from the public on the potential design options for the signage that is due to be installed as part of the project.

The public have the opportunity to share views on the design options online via the Council’s County Conversation’s portal as well as by contacting the team direct through emailing [email protected].

There will also be a public display of the design options at Llangollen Library from Wednesday,  6th of September until Friday, 7th of October where people can drop-in and provide their feedback via questionnaire.

Cllr Barry Mellor, Lead Member for Environment and Transport, said: “We look forward to speaking with the public and hearing their views on the potential designs for new signage in Llangollen as part of this exciting project to improve the 4 Great Highways.

“It’s important to us to ensure that the signage in the area reflects how local people want the town to be portrayed, and so we would encourage as many residents as possible to get involved with this consultation.”
