Denbighshire County Council has been praised by a national body for the way it manages its IT service.

The Council’s Business Transformation and ICT Service achieved excellent results in the latest Society for Innovation, Technology and Modernisation (SOCITM) national benchmarking survey.

SOCITM, an organisation that looks at innovation and modernisation in public services, commended the Council for how it manages its ICT estate, for being cost effective and for enabling its staff to work flexibly.

The Council received the highest scores across the UK in the Ease of Contact, Communication Channels, Kept Informed by ICT and Ability to Work Flexibly categories.

It was also ranked ‘very highly’ in the Effective 1st Line Category, Technical Competence and Customer Service Skills and had the best Customer Service score ever achieved for Denbighshire.

Cllr Richard Mainon, Lead Member for Corporate Services and Strategic Direction, said: “I would like to congratulate the staff involved who have worked hard to ensure these excellent results.

“Having a well-managed IT service allows the Council to make savings while still providing a first-rate service to our residents, whether ensuring our staff are still able to work and provide services during the current lockdown restrictions, in our schools or via services such as online booking forms on our website.

“The positivity and can do attitude our staff show never fails to impress and inspire. Well done to all.”

Denbighshire has now been approached by other councils seeking advice as to how to provide a better ICT service.
