Denbighshire businesses reminded to follow guidelines
Businesses in Denbighshire are being reminded to follow coronavirus guidance or face enforcement action.
Denbighshire County Council is carrying out visits to businesses throughout the county to ensure they are following Covid-19 guidelines and those not complying will face enforcement action, which could include fixed penalty notices or closure notices.
Cllr Mark Young, the Council’s Lead Member for Planning, Public Protection and Safer Communities, said: “We are reminding businesses that if they break the rules they can face fixed penalty notices as well as closures notices.
“The vast majority of businesses are complying with the guidelines and ensuring their customers and staff are safe and we thank those businesses for their effort to support their local communities.
“However, not following the guidelines can lead to outbreaks which puts our communities at risk and we are asking customers who are aware of businesses not following the guidance to report the matter to the Council.”
Welsh Government guidance includes:
- Unless exempt, face coverings are required in all indoor public places including hairdressers, gyms, libraries, shops as well as bars and restaurants when not eating or drinking. A reasonable excuse to remove a face covering temporarily does not include treatments on the face.
- Employers have duty to protect their staff and take reasonable measures to prevent the spread of the virus, which includes reminding customers not wearing coverings to do so.
- Residents should not meet together at cafes, bars and restaurants unless they are from the same household and then only in groups of six or less individuals (not including under 11s). Businesses should only seat customers from the same household together.
- Social distancing should be maintained at all times while in cafes, bars and restaurants apart from those from the same household. People not from the same household must remain two metres apart when inside business premises or queuing to get in.
- Certain businesses including the hospitality sector, cinemas, fitness studios, leisure centres and bingo halls, as well as close contact businesses, such as hairdressers, tattooists, sports and massage therapists must obtain customers’ contact details for the Test, Trace, Protect Scheme.
- Businesses should ensure sanitising stations are monitored, fully stocked and kept clean and tidy at all times and that they encourage customers to use them on entry.
