Denbighshire County Council issues update on Rhyl Botanical Gardens
Measures introduced by Denbighshire County Council and partners to stop anti-social behaviour at Rhyl’s Botanical Gardens are having a successful impact.
The Council and partners associated with the gardens recently implemented a number of additional security measures to combat reports of anti-social behaviour.
This included commissioning a security company, as a trial, to patrol the park and lock the gates each evening and the installation of nine additional CCTV cameras in the park.
Feedback provided at a meeting involving Denbighshire County Council, The Friends of the Botanical Gardens group, North Wales Police, Lead Members, Local Members and the Vale of Clwyd MP revealed the measures implemented had made a positive contribution in reducing anti-social behaviour at the grounds.
In addition to the current measures Denbighshire Youth Services will be completing regular weekly patrols of the park to engage with local youths and highlight the importance of respecting the park as a local facility for the benefit of all.
The council and partners involved with the Botanical Gardens have also agreed to continue to monitor the measures particularly during the summer holidays and review within the next few months.
Engagement will be carried out with local schools to ensure the message is delivered that anti-social behaviour in the park will not be tolerated and the park is a facility to be enjoyed by the whole community.
