Denbighshire County Council is reminding residents to register for its garden waste collection service as subscriptions reopen on Monday, 3 March 2025. The service, which had a temporary pause for essential upgrades earlier this year, will resume with a revised payment structure effective from 1 April 2025.

Subscription Details and Costs

Residents can sign up for the service starting at 8 am on 3 March. First-time subscribers are encouraged to register early to ensure timely delivery of their garden waste containers before the new cycle begins on 1 April. Those with existing subscriptions extending beyond 1 April will only pay a prorated fee covering their renewal date until 31 March 2026.

The garden waste collection runs on a 12-month cycle from 1 April to 31 March, with an online subscription fee of £45 for the upcoming year. Residents who subscribe via the Council’s contact centre or One-Stop-Shops will incur an additional £5 administrative fee. The fees are reviewed annually in line with inflation.

Denbighshire’s garden waste service offers a cost-effective and environmentally friendly way to dispose of garden refuse, providing 26 collections per year. At approximately £1.74 per collection, the service supports sustainable waste management in the region.

Encouraging Residents to Act Early

Councillor Barry Mellor, Lead Member for Environment and Transport, is urging residents to register as soon as possible to avoid delays and maximize the full benefits of the service.

“Ahead of the rollout of the new garden waste subscription service, I would like to remind residents who want to sign up to do so at their earliest convenience to account for the delivery time of any new bins and to take advantage of the full 12-month service,” said Cllr Mellor.

He also acknowledged past service disruptions in 2024 and reassured affected households that they would be eligible for a price freeze as a goodwill gesture for the 2025/26 period.

How to Check Your Subscription

Residents can verify their subscription status by visiting the bin collection dates page on the Denbighshire County Council website at www.denbighshire.gov.uk/bin-collection-dates.

With the revised subscription system in place, the Council continues to provide a valuable, optional recycling service that benefits both residents and the environment. Those wishing to participate are encouraged to register promptly to ensure uninterrupted service.
