IT and cyber security firm marks first anniversary with growing client base

A FAST-GROWING IT support company is marking a successful first year after winning clients across North Wales and beyond.

The tecdesk, based at Security House in Northop, Flintshire, was launched by directors Karen Farrell, Brad Farrell and IT specialist Luke Murray to offer companies proactive, accessible support while taking the complexity out of managing their technology.

The firm provides IT support, cyber security services, Microsoft 365 and cloud solutions, connectivity and consultancy, either as a complete service or alongside an existing IT team.

The tecdesk is a separate business within the wider Crime Prevention Services (CPS) group, the long-established fire and security company, but was developed with the same values.

Clients do not need any connection with CPS to work with The tecdesk, but a number of organisations already using CPS for fire and security have chosen the company for their IT support during its first year, alongside new customers coming directly to the business.

Luke said: “We wanted to take the values and customer service that have been tried and tested over many years at CPS and bring that same approach to Managed IT Support.

“The tecdesk is its own business and you certainly don’t have to be a CPS customer to work with us, but across the group we share the same focus on trust, relationships and looking after people.

“It’s been a really positive first year. We’ve seen existing relationships develop and welcomed completely new clients, which is exactly what we hoped would happen.”

As security systems have become more connected, security, IT and connectivity have moved much closer together, and that is where the opportunity for The tecdesk emerged.

Brad said: “There was a clear gap and demand for this service. Security and IT increasingly overlap, so The tecdesk was a natural next step.

“Many long-standing CPS customers are now coming on board because they want that same trusted relationship on the IT side, but The tecdesk is also building its own customer base and identity.

“We can provide a complete managed service or sit alongside an existing IT team. It’s about giving businesses the support they actually need.”

The tecdesk is now looking to build on its first-year growth and attract more clients across North Wales and beyond.

Karen said making the industry less intimidating and providing straightforward advice had been central to the company’s first year.

“Technology is moving incredibly quickly and not everyone feels confident managing it,” she said.

“Businesses are accessing systems and critical information remotely, so they need to know the infrastructure behind that is secure, reliable and supported.

“The tecdesk is proactive rather than reactive. We take away the jargon and complexity and give customers peace of mind because, ultimately, people still want to deal with people.”
