Karen Farrell Named Woman of the Year at 2025 Cheshire and North Wales Business Awards
Karen Farrell, Crime Prevention Services’ Managing Director and former High Sheriff of Clwyd has been named Woman of the Year at the 2025 Cheshire and North Wales Business Awards.
The awards ceremony, hosted by Downtown in Business, took place on Friday 6th June 2025 at the Pavilion at Chester Racecourse, bringing together more than 240 business leaders and professionals from across the region.
The event marked the first time Downtown in Business has held its renowned awards specifically for Cheshire and North Wales, honouring the companies and individuals driving growth, innovation, and excellence across the region.
Karen was recognised for her outstanding leadership at the helm of Crime Prevention Services, a family-owned security company, as well as her wider contribution to the community.
Her award also reflects her recent appointment as High Sheriff of Clwyd for 2024–2025, a ceremonial role that recognises her commitment to civic duty and charitable endeavours. Throughout her term, she raised an impressive £110,000 for local charities, including the purchase of a Blood Bike named ‘Rocky,’ a significant donation to St. David’s Hospice and Zoe’s Place, and a £35,000 fund held with Crimebeat, the High Sheriff’s charity, enabling a wide range of local community projects to benefit.
Although Karen was unable to attend the event in person, the Crime Prevention Services team proudly accepted the award on her behalf.
“This award is a testament not only to Karen’s business achievements, but to the integrity, compassion, and leadership she demonstrates every day,” said a spokesperson from Crime Prevention Services. “She continues to inspire our team and the wider community through her dedication to service, both professionally and personally.
“Karen gives so much of her time to charitable causes, both through her role as High Sheriff and within Crime Prevention Services and the causes we support. She always puts others first, so it’s truly wonderful to see her recognised in this way.
“We extend our congratulations to all the winners and nominees whose hard work and vision continue to shape the future of business in Cheshire and North Wales.”
The evening, headlined by sponsors DJH Accountants and Business Advisers, celebrated winners across a range of sectors. Fellow honourees included Jamie Christon of Chester Zoo (Man of the Year), Davies Partnership (Chief Executive’s Award), and Chester Racecourse (Business of the Year).
Crime Prevention Services was also shortlisted for Business of the Year, highlighting the team’s ongoing commitment to innovation, service excellence, and positive impact within the security industry.
