Greater London has seen the slowest growth in the sale of used EVs. In May 2023 the region saw the highest volume of sales of any region across the UK, with 1,089 used EVs sold. By April 2025 this has only increased by 223 (20.48%), with the West Midlands, East Midlands, South East and the East of England all overtaking Greater London in volume of used EVs sold.
Used EV sales in April 2025 were strongest in the South East, with 3,823 sold. Northern Ireland saw the fewest, with 254 sold in the same month.
Alastair Campbell, Marketcheck UK, said: “The used EV market for drivers has never been better, with more EVs being sold at ever decreasing prices, which will help car owners with the cost of fuel and with tensions in the Middle East this may become more important than ever.
However, Greater London stands apart with significantly weaker sales volumes when compared to the rest of the UK. This data can be seen as a stark warning to the London authorities if they are to meet their EV adoption goals.
Marketcheck will continue to monitor trends across the UK used car market.”
