North Wales Landmarks Light up to Celebrate the NHS, Carers and Keyworkers
North Wales celebrated last night’s final ‘clap for carers’ in style, with landmarks across the region being illuminated in a dazzling display of colour.
Landmarks across North Wales were lit up like beacons of hope as thousands joined the ‘Clap for Carers’ last night, including the Menai and Britannia bridges, while Conwy Castle displayed the word ‘Diolch’ (thank you) with a love heart and a full array of rainbow colours.
Not to be outdone, Rhuddlan Castle, Gwrych Castle in Abergele Sky Tower and Rhyl’s Pavilion Theatre were all lit up in blue in tribute to the frontline NHS heroes who have saved so many lives here in Wales.
The event showed a remarkable spread of solidarity across the region, with the Welsh Government, Transport for Wales and British Transport Police all supporting the event, alongside private businesses, including North Wales Security experts Corvus Security, who provided free event security and stewarding at Menai Bridge and the Britannia Bridge, where the lighting was supplied by Illuminated Events.

“Pete and the team from Illuminated Events has done North Wales proud, and we’ve been delighted to work alongside them stewarding the event tonight, but the solidarity across North Wales, from the Government, to local councils to the everyday people of North Wales has been amazing. As well as the achievements of our wonderful NHS, this evening has been a celebration of keyworkers in all industries across our region.
“Of course, we will eventually return to life after COVID-19 and #TeamCorvus is looking forward to our normal role, stewarding events of all kinds, as well as providing security for promotions, film and tv, festivals and live music across the UK. However, our team won’t forget the part they played in this special evening and all the everyday people who have worked to save lives and keep North Wales safe throughout the pandemic. To every one I’d like to say ‘Diolch’.”
