North Wales Software Development Team Make First Hire

North Wales tech start-up Carnedd has made its first hire.

Edward Aslin recently started Carnedd after six years as a fully booked, contracting Technical Lead and Web Developer. At the start of 2022, he decided it was time to expand, and Carnedd was born.

Based in North Wales, the company offers outsourced development and technical leadership to businesses throughout the UK.

Carnedd Director Edward Aslin said: “Making your first hire is always difficult. Finding the right person is so important at this crucial stage of the business’s development. We were fortunate enough to receive help from the Skills Academy at M-Sparc and were lucky enough to have our new candidate with us on placement for a short time ahead of their contract commencing. I cannot speak highly enough of the scheme and would wholeheartedly recommend it to those looking for new tech talent in North Wales”.

Carnedd’s new Junior Developer, Megan Jones, decided to make a career switch at the start of the first lockdown. She is finishing her Diploma in Web App Development and has had further training and placement opportunities from the M-Sparc Skills Academy.

Speaking on her new appointment, Megan Jones said; “It was important to me to find a company with a supportive and progressive culture, and I am delighted to have found that at Carnedd. It has been inspiring to follow the growth of the tech sector in North Wales, and I look forward to being part of what comes next.”

Edward added, “I am really excited to have Megan on board and to be able to give opportunities to local talent, rather than having to look further afield. In the growth of the business, I am determined to continue giving opportunities to those that call the area home, encouraging tech growth in North Wales, and embracing Welsh in the business”.
