Rhyl’s Carol Celebration to be held in Rhyl Next Month

The annual carol service ‘A Christmas Celebration’ hosted by Denbighshire County Council is being held in Rhyl next month.

The service will take place at 7.00p.m. on Tuesday 5 December at St Thomas Church, Rhyl.

The evening will have musical performances from pupils across Denbighshire schools which will include a rock/pop band, individual soloists as well as a choir, all under the leadership of the Denbighshire Music Co-operative – and we thank them again for their continued support and commitment with this event.

There will also be readings from members of staff and the local Air Force Cadets. There will be a wealth of talent from across the County taking part.

During the service, there will be a collection towards North Wales Women’s Centre which was the late Chairman Councillor Pete Prendergast’s chosen charity. North Wales Women’s Centre is a local, independent charity in Rhyl that provide a ‘one stop shop’ support service and around 70-80 women attend daily. If you would like to find out more about the remarkable work that the centre does then you can visit the North Wales Women’s Centre’s website.

Councillor Peter Scott, who was elected Chairman of Denbighshire County Council after the recent death of Councillor Pete Prendergast, said: “This year’s carol service will be particularly poignant and it will give us time to reflect on Pete’s life, what he brought to the community and the great work that he did – our thoughts will be with Pete, his family and friends.

“That is why we have decided to honour his memory by having the collection towards his chosen charity.”

“The concert will be a great opportunity to hear some local musical talents from young people from across our schools performing some Christmas favourites, old and new, as well as receiving the story of Christmas through festive readings.

“It will be the perfect way to start the festivities and enjoy the true meaning of Christmas.

“A warm welcome awaits everyone.”
