Road Resurfacing Works to take place in Rhyl

denbighshire council

Denbighshire County Council propose to commence carriageway resurfacing works in the locations listed below and, on the dates provided.

Brighton Road – between the junction of Clwyd Street and Vale Road traffic lights

  • Monday 12 and Tuesday 13 June between 18:30 and 07:00 – Road Closure
  • Tuesday 27 June between 19:00 and 00:00 – Lane Closures

High Street – between the junction of Kinmel Street and Wellington Road

  • Wednesday 14 and Thursday 15 June between 18:30 and 07:00 – Road Closure
  • Wednesday 21 June between 19:00 to 00:00 – Road Closure

Wellington Road – between the junction of Bodfor Street and Clwyd Street (because of the works, access to the High Street will not be available)

  • Sunday 18 June to Monday 19 June between 07.00 (Sunday) and 07.00 (Monday) – Road Closure
  • Monday 19 June to Friday 23 June between 18:30 and 07:00 – Road Closure
  • Monday 26 June between 19:00 to 00:00 – Road Closure

Within each of the sections subject to a road closure, all adjoining side roads shall be closed for the duration of the works. Market Street will therefore be closed to vehicular traffic as follows:

  • Sunday 18 June to Monday 19 June between 07:00 (Sunday) and 07:00 (Monday) – Road Closure
  • Monday 19 June to Friday 23 June between 18:30 and 07:00 – Road Closure
  • Monday 26 June between 18:30 to 02:00 – Road Closure

To ensure that the works are carried out safely, the above locations will be closed to vehicular traffic for the durations and dates stated above. Pedestrian traffic will be unaffected.

Access to the existing taxi rank on Rhyl High Street shall be unavailable during the closure of the High street and Wellington Road. Since disruption to the taxi service is minimal due to the restricted working hours, no additional facilities have been provided and taxis are encouraged to use the existing taxi rank facilities nearby.

Access to residential and business premises, which are located in each of the above locations may be available, although this cannot be guaranteed and therefore some delay and disruption may be experienced. The alternative diversion route will be signed accordingly. To minimise disruption to the public and businesses, the majority of the work will be undertaken during the evening and overnight and the roads reopened by 07:00 at the latest the following morning.

Some additional noise may be noticed during the course of the works, however this will be kept to a minimum to ensure it doesn’t result in too much aggravation.

Councillor Barry Mellor, Lead Member for Environment and Transport, said:

“Denbighshire County Council apologise for any inconvenience that these works may cause. We are grateful for the cooperation and patience of residents and visitors during this time, which allows these essential works to be completed as quickly and efficiently as possible”.
