Major Refurbishment Project Underway at Prestatyn High School
A significant investment in Denbighshire’s education infrastructure is underway, as refurbishment work begins on Block 1 at Prestatyn High School. The project represents an important step in improving school facilities across the county, with a clear focus on creating modern, safe and inspiring learning environments for pupils and staff.
Enhancing Education Infrastructure in Denbighshire
The two-storey Block 1 building will undergo a full internal transformation this summer. The refurbishment, led by Denbighshire County Council’s Property team in partnership with Education and Children’s Services, includes:
-
Installation of new suspended ceilings and durable floor coverings
-
Refreshed wall finishes with oak skirtings and dado rails
-
Upgraded fire doors to meet the latest safety standards
-
Modernisation of mechanical and electrical systems
These improvements form part of the Council’s ongoing strategy to invest in school capital projects, supporting both education delivery and wider community regeneration.
Delivering Long-Term Benefits for Learners and the Local Economy
Councillor Diane King, Lead Member for Education, Children and Families, welcomed the project:
“We are pleased to be able to go ahead with this work to refurbish this area of the school. The refurbishment of Block 1 at Prestatyn High will greatly improve the learning environment for both pupils and teachers. We are grateful to the school for their support while this important work is carried out.”
By improving Prestatyn High’s facilities, the Council is not only investing in young people’s futures but also supporting the local construction sector, with the refurbishment generating work for trades and suppliers in the area.
Completion Timeline
The project is scheduled to be completed by the end of October 2025, ensuring the improved facilities are ready for use during the new academic term.
