Winter maintenance work to improve community nature space in Denbighshire
Winter maintenance work is underway at a community nature space in Denbighshire, with the aim of improving habitats for wildlife while making the area more resilient for future seasons.
The project forms part of ongoing efforts to manage local green spaces in a way that balances public access with environmental protection. Planned works include vegetation management, habitat enhancement and general maintenance designed to support biodiversity during the colder months.
Council officers say winter is an important period for carrying out this type of work, as it reduces disturbance to wildlife during key breeding seasons. By tackling overgrown areas and maintaining pathways now, the site is expected to be better prepared for spring and summer use by both wildlife and the local community.
The improvements are intended to support a range of habitats, including areas used by insects, birds and small mammals. Enhancing these natural features is also expected to contribute to wider biodiversity objectives across the county, particularly in response to pressures from climate change and habitat loss.
Residents are being encouraged to continue using the space while the work is carried out, although some short-term disruption may occur in specific areas for safety reasons.
Denbighshire County Council has previously highlighted the importance of community nature spaces in supporting wellbeing, encouraging outdoor activity and strengthening connections between people and the natural environment. The winter maintenance programme is part of a broader approach to managing these sites sustainably over the long term.
