Agricultural Shows Put Rural Life Centre Stage in North Wales and Anglesey

Eglwysbach Show 4

Two of North Wales’ best-known agricultural shows are bringing together farmers, families, local businesses and rural communities, with the Eglwysbach Show and Sioe Môn once again celebrating the traditions and people at the heart of the region’s countryside.

The Eglwysbach Show, which has been running since the 1940s, has grown into a popular fixture in the Welsh agricultural calendar, offering visitors the opportunity to enjoy a traditional rural show while showcasing the very best of local farming, livestock and horticulture.

With strong community roots, the event provides a chance for competitors, producers and visitors to come together and celebrate the skills, knowledge and traditions that continue to shape rural life in North Wales.

Attention then turns to Anglesey for Sioe Môn – the Anglesey Agricultural Show – on Tuesday and Wednesday, 11 and 12 August.

One of the largest and most prestigious agricultural events in Wales, Sioe Môn has a history stretching back more than 150 years. First held in 1872, it has developed into a major showcase for Anglesey’s farming community while attracting thousands of visitors to the island.

Agriculture remains at the heart of the show, but its appeal extends well beyond the farming community, making it a popular day out for families and visitors as well as an important meeting place for rural businesses, organisations and community groups.

Among those attending the shows will be Janet Finch-Saunders MS, Senedd Member for Bangor Conwy Môn, and her team.

They will have a stall at both events, where residents are being encouraged to stop by to discuss local concerns, ask questions or simply have an informal chat.

Commenting ahead of the shows, Janet Finch-Saunders, Senedd Member for Bangor Conwy Môn said:

“These shows are fantastic celebrations of our rural communities and the people who make them so special. They provide an excellent opportunity to meet residents, local businesses, farmers and community groups from across the constituency.

I always enjoy attending these events and listening to the issues that matter most to local people. If you’re visiting either the Eglwysbach Show or Sioe Môn, please do come along to our stall and say hello, ask any questions or simply have a chat – it would be great to see you there.”
