Flintshire Communities Invited to Share £20,000

ENVIRONMENTAL and wellbeing projects in Flintshire have the chance to share £20,000 thanks to Castle Green Homes.

Mission Green Flintshire is a voluntary scheme attached to Gladstone Grange in Hawarden and Hawthorn Meadows in Buckley.  It’s open to local community projects with an emphasis on sustainability, the environment, health and wellbeing.

It’s a chance for charities, schools, not-for-profit organisations and individuals in Flintshire to receive funding to enhance the environment and look after residents’ wellbeing.

“Applications are open, with priority given to good causes near our new homes in Buckley and Hawarden. We want to know what those neighbourhoods need and how we can help make a difference. In other areas we’ve supported food poverty projects; schemes providing company for those who’d otherwise be lonely; open access play sessions; community gardens; school outside space improvements; mental health charities; litter picks and organisations looking after local wildlife.”

 

Castle Green Homes is one of the UK’s fastest growing housebuilders.

Mission Green is separate to community investment the homebuilder agreed to make during the planning process.

At Gladstone Grange, the business is creating 195 private sale homes and 105 affordable homes, 80 of which are being built for ClwydAlyn Housing Association, and 25 of which are for sale at a substantial discount to market value. The 27.33-acre site on Gladstone Way was allocated for housing in the Flintshire Local Plan.

Along with housing, the development will deliver a total of £1,567,000 of investment in the local community via section 106 contributions agreed during the planning process. This will include contributions of £625,000 to Hawarden Village School and £942,000 to Hawarden High School.

Hawthorn Meadows is taking shape on a 13.2-acre site on Well Street, Buckley. The land is allocated for housing in the Flintshire Local Plan and was successfully tendered through the Welsh Procurement Alliance framework.

Castle Green Partnerships will build 83 affordable homes available for social and affordable rent via ClwydAlyn Housing Association, with 76 homes for private sale.

Section 106 contributions agreed during the planning process include £387,849 for secondary education and £85,799 for primary education, plus £18,200 for highways works.

In addition to its statutory obligations and the £20,000 Mission Green Flintshire funding now available, Castle Green has already voluntarily shared £5,000 among good causes in the Abermorddu area, linked to new homes at Maes y Castell.

It’s also partnering with Home-Start Flintshire and has sponsored Mynydd Isa Football Club’s Under 14s and Buckley Cheerleading Club’s masters’ team.

Under Mission Green, Castle Green wants to help a variety of projects and so will make a series of grants rather than allocating the full fund to one cause.
