North Wales Employers Invited to Skills Summit as Recruitment Challenges Persist
Regional event in Llandudno will launch a new skills and employment plan and offer businesses advice on recruitment, training and workforce development.
Businesses across North Wales are being invited to a regional skills event aimed at addressing recruitment difficulties and helping employers access workforce development support.
The North Wales Skills: A New Plan, Practical Solutions event will take place at Venue Cymru in Llandudno on Thursday, 12 November 2026, from 9am to 1.30pm.
Organised by the North Wales Regional Skills Partnership, the free event will bring together employers, education providers, training organisations and business support services.
It will also mark the launch of the new North Wales Skills and Employment Plan, which aims to align training provision more closely with the needs of the regional economy.
More Than Half of Businesses Report Skills Shortages
Figures highlighted in the new plan indicate that 53% of businesses identify recruitment as their main challenge, while 56% report skills shortages within their workforce.
These findings underline the difficulties facing employers seeking appropriately qualified staff and the importance of developing effective recruitment and training strategies.
The event will provide practical information about workforce planning, staff retention, skills development and available funding.
Businesses attending will be able to speak directly with organisations providing employment and training support, explore current programmes and identify opportunities to develop their existing workforce.
Helping Businesses Plan for Future Workforce Needs
The North Wales Regional Skills Partnership works with employers, colleges, training providers and public sector organisations to identify workforce requirements and help shape regional skills provision.
Its work is intended to ensure that education and training programmes reflect the needs of businesses and support long-term economic development.
The November event will offer employers an opportunity to contribute to discussions about the region’s workforce priorities while gaining information about support available to their organisations.
The focus on practical solutions may be particularly relevant to small and medium-sized enterprises that do not have dedicated recruitment or training departments.
For these businesses, access to external support can help with identifying suitable training, developing staff and addressing recruitment difficulties.
